Hosted by the Department of Islamic Art, this annual lecture features current research by leading scholars in the field.

Massumeh Farhad, Chief Curator and The Ebrahimi Family Curator of Persian, Arab, and Turkish Art at the Freer Gallery of Art and the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery, will present on the complex relationship between images and words found in the Shahnama (Book of Kings) completed for the second Safavid ruler Shah Tahmasp (1524–76).
