FARHANG O ZENDAGĪ

 

FARHANG O ZENDAGĪ, a periodical published in 28 issues from winter 1348 Š./1969 to spring 1357 Š./1978 by the Secretariat of the High Council of Culture and Art (Dabīr-ḵāna-ye Šūrā-ye ʿalī-e farhang o honar). Nāṣer Nayyer Moḥammadī served as the editor of the first nine issues; Maḥmūd Ḵoš-nām of issues 11-14; and Masʿūd Faqīh of issues 23-28. Other issues were supervised by a board of editors. Publishing articles on both Persian culture and the cultural affairs of other articles, with excellent printing and fine illustrations in an attractive format, Farhang o zendagī was well received by Persian intellectuals. It contained 162 to 266 one or double-column pages measuring 16.5 x 20 cm. A single issue cost 30 rials; a yearly subscription cost 100 rials until the fourth issue and 120 rials thereafter. Farhang o zendagī is kept at major libraries in Persia and in other countries with Persian collections.
